Margariti is a historical region of Epirus. With D.L. 19/10/78 (OFFICIAL

located residues of polygonal walls, ancient graves and coins, as
well as signs with Latin letters.
In his newer form it began to be built in year
1438 from the Venecians. It was captured from the Tourks in 1449,
when began also the violent islamization of his residents.
At the years 1776 - 1779 Margariti visited the
national martyr and spirit fighter Saint

and in the inventory of 1915 was 2600 residents.
Nowadays it is seat of Municipality Margaritiou.
It allocates public services (Centre of Health, Police, Post, Veterinary
clinic, Office of Agricultural Growth), schools (Children's Station,
Kindergarten, Public school, High school). It allocates also associations
and other institutions of not speculative character (Cultural Group,
Athletic group, Team of Women), which aim is the rescue, the appointment
and maintenance of cultural heritage and popular culture of place.
For this aim are organised athletic, cultural and other events all
the time.
The economy of settlement has mainly agricultural,
cattle - breeding character, supports however to a large extent
and in a enough important commercial and small industry, professional
activity, while finally satisfactory share appears to claim also
the tourism.
The daily commercial and small industry activity
is assembled mainly in the "market", right and left the
central street where are found the shops and the services.
It is, however, essential the further appointment
and projection of cultural heritage, the appointment of splendid
natural environment and the exploitation of tourist possibilities,
in combination with the benefit of services and the remaining economic
activity, so the growth of region is continued with more rapid rythms.
